RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way of receiving new content from your favorite websites such as JeffKlein.com. RSS feeds contain headlines, a summary and a link to the article on the website. Subscribing to an RSS feed keeps you up to date with the latest news, without having to constantly revisit the site to check for updates.
What is a ‘RSS Feed Reader’ and How Can I Use it?
A feed reader or aggregator allows you to read RSS files. The feed reader collects news from various websites and provides it to you in a simple format.
You may already be using a form of feed reader, and not even realize it. If you use personalized home page services like My Yahoo or My MSN, you’ve got RSS capabilities already. Like the syndicated content (news, weather, stock quotes) that appears on your personal page, you can add your own content from any blog or other site that uses RSS to provide updates.
Other web-based tools are primarily dedicated to feed reading only. Two of the most popular are Google Reader and Bloglines.
Newer browsers also have RSS functionality built it.
When you subscribe to an RSS feed, the feed reader will check the website you subscribe to for new content. If there are any new articles, they will be displayed within the reader itself.
Getting started with RSS Feeds is easy. Just follow these three easy steps:
- Sign up for a free feedreader (I recommend Google Reader).
- Come back to this page and subscribe to the JeffKlein.com RSS feed.
- You’re done! Remember to check your feed reader daily to see if new articles have been posted.
All the published articles from JeffKlein.com will show up automatically in your feed reader.
